ABVP asks minister to scrap FYUP:

NEW DELHI: Human resource minister Smiti Irani is swamped by representations on the four-year programme. On Saturday, five ABVP members met her and "demanded a complete rollback" of FYUP.

"The delegation submitted a memorandum to the minister highlighting the demands for new colleges, more hostels and filling permanent teaching and non-teaching positions in DU. Smiri Irani has said the university is an autonomous body and has shown concern for the students' struggle. She said whatever is decided would be in their interest," says ABVP.

Delhi University Students' Union has also sought an appointment and will meet her on Monday. Former FYUP supporter NSUI has launched a hunger strike against it and All India Students' Association, which first opposed FYUP, has announced an "open meeting" on North Campus on June 9.
