Press Release on Atalji Condolence

Akhil BharatiyaVidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) mourns the sad demise of world leader and former Prime Minister of India Hon'ble Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Atalji, as he was fondly known, was a statesman in the true sense. A visionary leader, a political sage, a humane individual and a sensitive soul Atalji was truly an inspiration for students and youth. Atalji had been a guiding light in his long association with the ABVP. He graced the National Conference of ABVP in Delhi as the Chief Guest in 1985. The World Organization of Students and Youth (WOSY), a global forum of ABVP was formally launched at his hands in the same conference commemorating the UN International Year of the Youth. We were honoured to have him inaugurate the Golden Jubilee celebration of ABVP on 9th July, 1998 in New Delhi. In 2002, during his tenure as the Prime Minster, Atalji hosted touring SEIL student delegates at his residence. SEIL is a forum of ABVP which aims at strengthening the ties between the North East India and the rest of the nation through various programs and activities. National President Dr. S. Subbiah expressed deep remorse and said, “Atalji was a great leader who led Bharat in its twilight of political change with his poetic tenderness and acceptance. He is the man behind political change and infrastructural leap in India.”
